GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS: NO NOMINATION FOR INDIA SINCE ‘GANDHI’
The first cinema award show of the year, the Golden Globe, will be held on January 5 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, USA. It will be broadcast live in India on January 6 from 7:30 am. The 77th Golden Globe being organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is also being held this year in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. Viewers can watch Ceremony broadcast on Comedy Central India, VH1 and Colors Infinity.
The Golden Globe is not a nomination from India this year as well. Meera Nair’s film ‘Monsoon Wedding’ was last nominated in the Best Foreign Language Motion Picture category in 2002. 37 years ago the film ‘Gandhi’ was the last Indian film to win this title.

INDIAN FILMS HAVE WON THE TITLE TWICE



Indian films have so far won the Golden Globe Award twice. In 1959, V Shantaram’s ‘Do Aankhen Barah Haath’ won the Samuel Goldwyn International Award for the first time. 24 years later, in 1983, Richard Attenberg’s film ‘Gandhi’ won the title of Best Motion Picture in the Foreign Language category.
Apart from this, three Indian films have received a nomination for the award. Satyajit Ray’s The World of Apu in 1961 and Meera Nair’s Salaam Bombay in 1981 were nominated for Best Motion Picture in the Foreign Language category.

NETFLIX GETS THE MAXIMUM 17 FILM NOMINATIONS


This year, the OTT platform Netflix has achieved the highest number of nominations in 17 categories. Out of the total 5 best films nominated, three are ‘The Irishman’, ‘Marriage Story’ and ‘The Two Pops’ from Netflix Studios. HBO Studios has since been nominated to 15 categories. Apart from the film, Netflix has also made 17 nominations in the TV series category.


RICKY GERVAIS WILL HOST THE PROGRAM FOR A RECORD FIFTH TIME


British comedian Ricky Gervais is going to host the 77th Golden Globe program for the fifth time. On this occasion, Ricky said that once again he gave me an offer which I could not refuse. However, he made it clear that he would host the event for the last time.

VEGETARIAN FOOD WILL BE SERVED FOR THE FIRST TIME


The 77th Golden Globe Awards, to be held on Sunday, will serve vegetarian food for the first time. The entire menu will be based on vegetables only. Lorenzo Soria, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, said the decision was taken with the aim of increasing environmental awareness. Along with this, glass bottles will be used instead of plastic during the program.
